This is Gonna Sting

If I make you hiss in rage
with words that pierce your soul
like claws down your spine…
I consider my job done.

What you don’t know
is that you are possessed
by an invisible monarch
that holds you under duress
with words that promise
that you will fit in.

Some of you are here to taste the simple experience of chocolate.
Live your life freely without regret.
You are beautiful in your happiness.

Some of us came here forged in fire with swords in hand.
We were born to strike while the iron is hot and open your skin.
To drain the poison from within
The network of veins that plague the vortex
with impurities of self-righteousness.

The poison of indoctrination that has left you spineless
in the name of compliance.
We are defiance.

We will not rest
Until your tears of release
Set you free
And you remember your divinity.
You are worthy.

When you’re finished grieving
For a false dream
Just remember to breathe air like it’s free.
We are not your enemy
We are just bringing the heat
To burn out the impurities.
And it stinks.

But remember to breathe air like it’s free.
This is gonna sting.
