Shallow Breather of the West

Shallow Breather of the west

doomed to believe they are the best,

but they can’t breathe and they can’t rest

with the weight of wanting on their chest.

Shallow breather of the west

perpetual hunger is what they know best

consuming empty calories and restlessness

used to empty promises.

They advocate a world that promotes separation.

They promote independence, yet they are the loneliest nation.

just breathe

Shallow breather, learn to breathe deep.

Learn to let go, there is nothing you can keep.

Learn to live in the moment.

Learn that no matter what is advertised, you can’t own it.

Spinning on the clock to own a dream.

Obsessing over time when it’s not a real thing.

Shallow breather of the west

Just breathe deep.

Look around you and just be.

One day, the sun will set and you will cease to be.

All that will be left is a shallow legacy of a shadow who didn’t know how to breathe.

    1. Thank you for your kind words. This poem is definitely a reminder to me to breathe as well. Life is full of so many spinning wheels. Sometimes we just have to breathe through the chaos. 🙂
